WEB Celtics Defeat Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of NBA Finals

Boston's Depth Dominates, Porzingis Returns

In a stunning display of dominance, the Boston Celtics thrashed the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in the opening game of the NBA Finals on Thursday. The Celtics' superior depth proved too much for a Dallas team led by a hobbled Luka Doncic.

Kristaps Porzingis, who had been sidelined with a calf injury, made his return for the Mavericks but was clearly not at 100%. Porzingis played just 15 minutes and finished with 6 points on 2-of-6 shooting.

Doncic led the Mavericks with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, but he was not able to keep up with the Celtics' balanced attack. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 26 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 21 and Marcus Smart with 18.

Boston also dominated the 3-point game, hitting 16 of 42 attempts compared to Dallas' 7 of 27.
