Montero Dominates on the Mound, Fans Eight

Keider Montero turned in a masterful performance on the mound Tuesday night, tossing a complete game and leading the Detroit Tigers to an 11-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

The Tigers' offense provided plenty of run support for Montero, pounding out 15 hits, including four home runs—a two-run shot by Javier Baez in the first inning, a solo homer by Miguel Cabrera in the third, a two-run blast by Spencer Torkelson in the fifth, and a solo rocket by Victor Reyes in the sixth.

Montero, making his second start for the Tigers, was in command from the outset. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out eight batters.

Tigers' Pitching Staff Continues to Impress

Montero's complete-game shutout was the second by a Tigers pitcher in the past three games. Tarik Skubal tossed a complete-game, two-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.

The Tigers' pitching staff has been one of the team's strengths in the early going of the season. The staff entered Tuesday's game with a 3.20 ERA, which is third-best in the American League.

Tigers' Offense Continues to Produce

The Tigers' offense has also been clicking in the early going. The team is averaging 5.0 runs per game, which is sixth-best in the AL.

The Tigers have been particularly good at hitting home runs. They have hit 23 home runs in their first 15 games, which is tied for fourth-most in the AL.

Tigers Win Third Straight Game

The victory over the Rockies was the Tigers' third straight. The Tigers are now 9-6 on the season and in second place in the AL Central.

The Tigers will face the Rockies again on Wednesday at Coors Field. Matthew Boyd is scheduled to start for the Tigers, while Kyle Freeland is expected to start for the Rockies.
